Thanks to a grant from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program under the auspices of the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority we have recently relocated to our new home. The center is the only one of its kind in the community, a 2,000 sq ft commercial building complete with a reference library, two computer labs, a reading room and office.
Thanks to a separate grant from the Virgin Islands Department of Energy (VIDE) we were able to purchase a 8kw Photovoltaic Grid-tie Solar Panel system. The system generates enough energy to power the facility while helping the electric company (VIWAPA) power others thereby ensuring we are doing our part not only to conserve energy but more importantly assist with reducing our carbon footprint by using clean energy.
The HCW community center provides access to office equipment, computers, programs and the internet to approximately 20 youths and adults on a daily basis.
The programs and services are provided at little or no cost to participant. Your support will be greatly appreciated by one and all.
